This is a very easy modification. Take a piece of aluminium and cut it in the shape of a mudguard Cut it a bit wider as the little mudguard at the underside of the swingarm. Bend it in shape just like the rounding of the swingarm so the mudguard won`t hit the tyre and close nicely onto the underside mudguard. Mount it with 3 bolts onto the underside mudguard. Don`t use bolts with a big head, or they will hit the tyre. Make sure they are tightened well. Now you`re finished! Biggest advantage of this modification is that this little mudguard keeps your rear shock clean.

Image 1: Before I installed the mudguard or fender. Whatever you want to call it.

Image 2: After I installed the mudguard. I didn`t take the effort to make it nice......

Image 3: But why should I. You can hardly see it behind that 160 tyre! A close up by the way.

What you need:

- Piece of aluminium (about 1,0mm thick).

- 3 bolts and 3 nuts.

- Usual tools.

Cost:

Something like $5,-

Time:

Uhhh, well, about half an hour.

Why:

That`s a good question! Did you ever noticed how dirty the rear shock gets? Even when you only ride the street up and down it gets dirty as if you went offroad. I found it pretty irritating. That`s why I made this little mudguard/fender/whatever. I made it a bit to low. I should have made it 10cm higher and then it would really help, but still I can see a difference. The rear shock doesn`t get dirty anymore, at least not so fast.

Overall:

Easy. When you can work with a metal saw, you can do this.

Good luck!
