The standard brake hose on a GS is a rubber one. This is ample sufficient, but when you start doing tricks like stoppies, you`ll probably wish you had 2 brake discs on your front wheel. Well, you don`t! But one way to make your front brake response quicker is to mount a RVS brake hose. In Holland it`s called a RVS front brake hose, but in English I think it`s called a steel braided front brake hose. The biggest advantage of such a hose is that it doesn`t expand when braking hard. Also the life span of a steel braided brake hose is much longer compare to a rubber brake hose.

I didn`t mount the brake hose myself, because I didn`t have the time to do it. So I let the dealer do the job. When you are familiar with refilling your brake fluid, this should be a piece of cake. The only thing you need to do more, is replacing the brake hose itself, which isn`t hard.

What you need:

A steel braided front brake hose (with the copper gaskets), brake fluid and the usual tools!

Cost:

About $45,- brake fluid included (without the pay costs of the dealer).

Time:

Took them about 1 hour.

Why:

Gives a quicker brake response, more reliable and has a longer life span.

Overall:

Hard! Still not easy to do, but with a little experience with changing the brake fluid it is a piece of cake.

Good luck and enjoy!
